History on slavery-Eracism?
Why in the heat of any slavery argument do the African American culture not bring up or admit that it was also their ancestors who bartered their own people for goods. ( I am quite sure that they figured America would be a better life than Africa for them). I am not condoning the brutal incidents that occurred but I also don’t beleive that every person who had a slave mistreated them.Much like media it seems the only stories that get passed around are the bad ones! I also think someone needs to educate African Americans that a majority of White people’s ancestors did not have slaves – they came from Ireland, England,Germany,Scotland,Italy, etc. Also why isn’t Abraham Lincoln ever represented in Black History Month? There are 2 sides to every coin I would like to hear what Y!A think!
I Am not racist just curious on thoughts of the issue and there are questions about every culture but no -one will answer a 2 page question! The Black- White topic would receive more attention than a number of others. I am not a judgemental person and would like to hear peoples thoughts w-out getting into a overheated debate w/ people who like to argue -How else will we get anywhere if people are not willing to have an open mind and see what gets passed from generation to generation- Sometimes we have to go back in order to move forward.

It was European nations use created the market for African slaves. You will always find those who are willing to exploit others, but the power lay within the countries who controlled the colonies. You are skipping over a lot of history yourself with your simplistic accusations.

Why do you target only black people? There are other holidays and celebrations that exclude groups of people. It couldn’t be because you are RACIST, could it? Of course not!

I sure hope stories of mistreatment get around. It’ll be a sad day when people don’t blink twice at acts of racism.
